Robert Palmer, JP (31 January 1793 24 November 1872) was an English gentleman from Berkshire and ToryConservative Member of Parliament. [1 The son of Robert Palmer Senior and Jane Bowles, he lived at Holme Park in Sonning.His grandfather Robert Palmer, a London attorney, prospered as the longserving principal agent to the dukes of Bedford. He bought Hurst Lodge in 1742, and subsequently acquired property on the nearby manors of Sonning, Berkshire, and Sonning Eye, across the river in Oxfordshire. robert palmer sonning
Holme Park Sonning, Berkshire. When the last of the line died in 1795, Holme Park was purchased by another local landowner, Robert Palmer from Hurst Lodge. Palmer was a rich lawyer in Great Russell Street (Bloomsbury) where he became the agent for the Duke of Bedford. Holme Park is currently the home of the Reading Blue Coat School.
